THE DUSTY SHEPHERD BOOKS COLLECTION

A careful, fact-only trail through Scripture.

Dusty Shepherd follows one thread at a time through the Bible — numbers, patterns, and the strangest verses hiding in plain sight. No devotional spin, no doctrine to sell. Just a patient investigation, one book at a time.

Welcome to Dusty Shepherd Books, a Choice1-3D series of Bible word studies. Each book picks one number or phrase and follows it through Scripture, checking every step against the text. Read them in any order, and draw your own conclusions.

The Number That Stands Alone — Dusty Shepherd Books, Book One
Dusty Shepherd Books 11

Book One: The Number That Stands Alone

Biblical Hebrew has two different words for “one” — and in the most repeated sentence in the Hebrew Bible, the writer chose the one that means “joined,” not “solitary.” This is the first investigation in the Dusty Shepherd Books series: a careful, fact-only trail through Scripture, following one number through some of its strangest appearances.

Bini: The Hidden Mystery of Two Witnesses — Dusty Shepherd Books, Book Two
Dusty Shepherd Books 12

Book Two: Bini

Two witnesses. One rule that would not bend. Thirty-four centuries ago, a wilderness law court declared that no single voice could establish the truth — it always took two. Dusty Shepherd follows that ancient law from Deuteronomy through the words of Jesus and the two witnesses of Revelation to the Greek word that became “martyr.”

Tertia: The Hidden Mystery of the Third Day — Dusty Shepherd Books, Book Three
Dusty Shepherd Books 13

Book Three: Tertia

Why does the Bible keep saving its turning points for the third day? From creation’s twice-good day to Abraham’s mountain, Sinai and a queen in a king’s court, Tertia follows the phrase “on the third day” word by word through Hebrew, Greek and Latin — all the way to a Tuesday wedding today.

Dusty Shepherd Books 14

Book Four: Quattuor

Four corners of the earth. Four winds of heaven. Four kingdoms, four horsemen, and a city that lies foursquare. Quattuor follows the number four from the fourth day of creation to the foursquare city of Revelation — then home to the leap day on your calendar and the compass in your phone.

Quinque: The Hidden Mystery of the Fifth Part — Dusty Shepherd Books, Book Five
Dusty Shepherd Books 15

Book Five: Quinque

Joseph took a fifth of Egypt’s harvest. The law of Moses added a fifth to every wrong made right. A firstborn son was bought back for five shekels, and still is today. Why does the Bible keep reaching for the number five? Quinque follows five through Scripture — then out of the Bible and into your world: the five books that open every Bible, the fifty days of Pentecost, the word “jubilee,” and the verse from Leviticus cast into the Liberty Bell.

Sexta: The Hidden Mystery of the Sixth Day — Dusty Shepherd Books, Book Six
Dusty Shepherd Books 16

Book Six: Sexta

Six days of work. Six years of service. A giant six cubits tall and a king’s throne six steps high. Why does the Bible keep counting in sixes, and why does six almost never get the last word? Sexta follows six through Scripture — checking each claim against the text itself — then out of the Bible and into your world: the six days of work and the seventh day of rest that still shape the week of billions today.

FROM THE INTRODUCTION

“This is not a devotional, and it isn’t trying to convince you of any one tradition’s doctrine. It’s an investigation — and like any good investigation, it starts with the evidence, not the conclusion.”

FROM THE BACK COVER

Two Hebrew words both translate to “one.” Only one of them shows up in the sentence every Sabbath prayer repeats. That’s where this trail begins.

About Dusty Shepherd Books

Dusty Shepherd Books: The Number That Stands Alone cover
Dusty Shepherd Books 17

Dusty Shepherd is a Bible teacher character from Choice1-3D. You may know our studio for Pixar-style 3D animated comedy shorts and music stories. Dusty is the quiet one in the family. He sits down with an open Bible, a notepad, and a lot of patience.

Dusty Shepherd Books grew out of that patience. Each book is an investigation. It follows one thread through the Bible, usually a number or a short phrase, and looks closely at the Hebrew words behind it. Then it reports what the text actually says.

How Each Investigation Works

Every book in the series follows the same simple method. Start with the evidence, not the conclusion. Look at each place the word or number shows up. Check the claim against the text. Take the strongest objections seriously. And when honest readers disagree, say so plainly.

That is why these books are not devotionals. They do not push one church tradition over another. They simply lay out what can be shown, step by step, and trust you to think it through. Many readers enjoy that. It feels like solving a puzzle together.

Who These Books Are For

Dusty Shepherd Books are for curious readers. Maybe you have read the Bible for years and want to see it from a new angle. Maybe you are new to Scripture and like a clear, calm guide. Maybe you just love word puzzles and history. There is room for all of you here.

Small groups and Bible study classes can use them too. Each book is short enough to read in a few sittings, and full enough to spark a good talk. Pick one number, read it together, and see where the trail leads.

Where to Start

If you are not sure where to begin, start with Book One, The Number That Stands Alone. It sets the tone for the whole series. From there, you can follow the numbers in order with Bini, Tertia, Quattuor, Quinque, and Sexta, or jump straight to the one that catches your eye. Each investigation stands on its own.
