Slick and Muffin

Slide Race Shortcut lesson number one: speed means nothing if your sister just climbs the ladder instead. I was positive I’d win this slide race, right up until I saw Muffin standing at the top looking very unbothered. Turns out shortcuts beat cannonballs every single time.

🦝 SLICK & MUFFIN · FRIDAY & SATURDAY

Slide Race Surprise

Slick thinks speed wins the race, but Muffin discovers the ladder is basically cheating in the best way possible.

Slick was absolutely sure he had this slide race in the bag before he even touched the top of the yellow tube slide. He crouched low, grinned wide, and launched himself downward like a furry red comet, convinced that speed alone would make him the champion of the playground.

The Slide Race Shortcut That Changed Everything

Here is the thing about a slide race shortcut nobody tells you until it is far too late: taking the long way around is not actually racing, it is just a very loud way of losing. Slick zoomed down the curvy yellow tube with leaves flying off his hoodie like confetti at his own parade, totally unaware that the real contest had already been decided somewhere far above him.

He shot out the bottom of the slide like a cannonball fired from a very proud, very wrong cannon. Eyes wide, mouth open, arms already halfway into a victory pose, Slick fully believed he had just pulled off the greatest shortcut strategy in raccoon history. Spoiler alert for Slick: he had not.

Why the Slide Race Shortcut Always Belongs to Muffin

Gravity, unfortunately, does not care about victory poses. Slick landed face-first with a thump so dramatic that actual cartoon stars appeared above his dizzy little head. While he lay there blinking at the sky and wondering which way was up, the true genius of the slide race shortcut revealed itself one fluffy pink bow at a time.

Muffin was already standing calmly at the top of the slide, arms crossed, looking about as impressed as a cat watching a dog try to climb a tree. She had skipped the slide entirely, strolled up the ladder like a tiny queen inspecting her kingdom, and claimed victory without ever once risking a faceplant. That, dear reader, is the slide race shortcut in its purest form.

What If the Slide Race Shortcut Gets Even Sillier Next Time

Picture this: Slick builds a homemade rocket-powered sled to beat the slide race shortcut forever, only for it to fizzle out two feet from the ladder while Muffin casually rides up in a tiny elevator made of sticks. Or imagine Slick recruiting a whole troop of squirrels to carry him up the ladder, forgetting entirely that carrying things is exactly what stairs are already good at.

Maybe next time Slick brings a map, a stopwatch, and a full strategy binder labeled Operation Slide Race Shortcut Domination, only to trip over the binder itself before reaching the first rung. Muffin, naturally, will already be up there filing her claws and wondering what took him so long. Some things in Heritage Hollow never change, and that is exactly why we love them.

The beauty of the slide race shortcut gag is that it never gets old, because Slick never learns, and Muffin never has to try very hard to win. It is the perfect ten second lesson in why brains occasionally beat brawn, especially when brawn insists on taking a slide shaped like a very long, very yellow mistake.

So the next time someone brags about winning a race, ask them politely whether they actually raced, or whether they simply discovered a shortcut nobody else thought to use. In Slick and Muffin’s world, the answer is almost always the second one, and the stars Slick sees afterward are just a bonus prize for trying so hard to lose so spectacularly.

The Funniest Moments

#1
“I was winning right up until gravity and my sister both disagreed.”
#2
“You raced the slide. I just skipped the whole race.”
#3
“Those stars I saw were definitely not part of the prize.”

Your Questions, Answered

What is the slide race shortcut Muffin uses in this episode?

It’s simple, Muffin just climbs the ladder while I fly down the slide – and somehow she still wins first.

Did Slick really see stars after the slide race shortcut faceplant?

Oh yes, big dizzy cartoon stars, right there above my head where my victory pose should have been.

Does Slick ever win a race against Muffin?

Rarely, but I remain hopeful, mostly because hope is free and dignity is apparently not.

About Brad (Founder, Chaos Coordinator, CEO-ish) Hi, I’m Brad—the guy behind Choice1-3D who thought, “What if cartoons, music, and life lessons all argued in the same room?” I create Pixar-style 3D animation, comedy shorts, and original music that poke fun at real life, make you laugh, and occasionally sneak in something meaningful before the raccoons knock it over. While Henry edits everything to perfection, Gina ignores the budget, and the raccoons eat literally everything, I keep the lights on, the ideas flowing, and the stories coming. My desk is mostly notes, coffee, and bills—but somehow it all turns into fun. Choice1-3D exists because life is loud, weird, and funny… and sometimes the best way to understand it is through a cartoon raccoon and a good laugh. Welcome to the madness. 😄
