Hawaiian Booties: Grandpa’s Island Research Trip Takes a Turn

Hawaiian Booties brings Grandpa’s Booty Study of America to the islands, where the sun is bright, the waterfalls are glowing, the luau is rolling, and Grandpa’s focus is officially in trouble. This animated comedy short takes the playful regional humor of the series and drops it right into a tropical scene filled with oranges, pinks, blues, palm trees, flowers, and a rhythm that seems to float through the air.

Grandpa arrives thinking he is about to deliver a serious field report. That lasts about three seconds. Once the island sway starts, the man’s notes become useless. The ocean breeze kicks in, the luau drums start working overtime, and suddenly Grandpa is pretending he is still in control while clearly forgetting half the sentence he started with.

This is not a serious documentary. Slick and Muffin are back, and they have appointed themselves the official raccoon review board. Slick claims he came for culture. Muffin knows he came for snacks. Together, they watch Grandpa try to stay professional while the island rhythm slowly steals every thought he had left.

Hawaii brings rhythm, sunshine, flowers, ocean breeze, and a level of calm that completely wrecks Grandpa’s serious researcher routine.

Hawaiian Booties stands out because it has a different rhythm from the rest of the series. The joke is not about rushing, bragging, or strutting through town. The joke is that everything is so smooth and tropical that Grandpa cannot keep his brain on the road. He starts out as a narrator and slowly turns into a confused tourist holding a microphone.

Slick and Muffin help keep the comedy moving because they react like the audience is reacting. Slick is impressed, distracted, and probably hungry. Muffin sees the whole thing falling apart and has no problem calling it out. Together, they turn the short into more than a quick joke. They make it feel like a full little comedy scene inside the bigger Choice1-3D world.

The result is colorful, fast, funny, and easy to watch. It gives viewers a quick laugh, a strong visual hook, and another reason to keep traveling through the full Booty Study series.
